Review for The Carlton
From diner Gordon on 25/10/07
We went there at lunch time and enjoyed a nice meal, the intention was to taste test for a return evening meal.
The evening meal was very disappointing, in fact we felt that the fish selected was straight out of a box and prepared in a microwave, which would have been cheaper to buy oneself from Sainsburys.

Review for The Grove Cafe
From diner Laura on 24/10/07
I've been going to the Grove for many years and it is always a pleasure to eat there, whether it be a Sunday breakfast (without doubt the best breakfast in Leigh) or a leisurely lunch.
The food is always fresh, on time and the service good.
One request would be to offer freshly squeezed juices and perhaps some organic options.

Review for Stefan's Brasserie
From diner Laura on 22/10/07
We visited the restaurant a few months back for the Sunday lunch. It was great.
Stefan also does a catering service and so I decided to use him for a very special celebration at home I had coming up.
How professional was this - the real works. They served champagne and oysters as the guests came in and the meal was just stunning - absolutely stunning.
I cannot believe all this lovely food came out of my kitchen.
Stefan if you are reading this I am forever indebted as this was one of the most entertaining evenings of my life and should be in everyone's list of things they need to do before they die.

Review for Estuary
From diner Anastasia on 15/10/07
Visited recently with a friend from London, extremely rude and unhelpful waitress, if she doesn't want to deal with the public, then get a different job! Obviously need training in customer care!!
Will NOT be going again! A waste of £17 for breakfast!

Review for Estuary
From diner Frederick on 06/10/07
We had a lasagne at this restaurant.
Top price for rubbish. When we complained the waitress said the cook who made it had gone out. Aberdeen Angus mince they said it contained, we found very little of it, a meal for a veggie, disgusting.
As a previous customer stated, get a 99p meal from Iceland, far better.

Review for Khan Tandoori
From diner David on 25/09/07
A great place to spend an hour or so. Good quality reasonably priced Indian food served by very likeable and friendly staff. Roger who runs the place is a legend.

Review for Agostinos
From diner Simon on 05/09/2007
We went here one Saturday evening, the place had a pleasant busy atmosphere.
We both had a fish starter which is the most generous starter I have ever been served (mixed and smoked fish), then to follow a fillet steak cooked to perfection with a most generous dish of mixed fresh vegatables.
We chose the house red which was smooth and pleasant, good service and good portions as it should be when two blokes are eating out (take note other resturants that serve two men half a sliced carrot with 4 mini potatoes).

Review for The Hawk, Battlesbridge
From diner Paul Martin on 28/08/2007
The Hawk serves a very nice meal at a very reasonable price, set in the pleasant surroundings of Battlebridge.
I dined on a bank holiday Monday, meaning the restaurant was very busy, but the service was still pretty quick.
Overall a good selection of food and I would definitely return in the future.

Review for Kings Head, Billericay
From diner Shirley Brown on 28/08/2007
I recently had lunch at the Kings Head, it has been redecorated.
The food is very good and good value, the garden area is clean and well laid out, the staff are all helpful and the tables are cleared away quickly.

Review for The Estuary, Leigh
From diner Simon on 25/08/2007
I went to this restaurant one lunchtime with a friend who was over from Canada.
We waited over an hour for it to be served it was the worst fish pie I have ever eaten - Iceland do one that's much nicer for 99p.
The meal here was very overrated.
I eat out a lot but will not be going back there.

Wonderful food served by the nicest waiters, luxurious surroundings...highly recommended

Review for Rayleigh Lodge, Rayleigh
From diner Linda on 20/08/2007
I have visited Rayleigh Lodge a few times, and have always had the carvery.
We've never had to book or wait to be seated, and always get served straight away. The food in the carvery is always hot and there's a good selection. You can go up for as much as you like, and definitely worth the £12 for 2 meals.
Deserts are good too! I recommend the waffle, ice cream and chocolate sauce!

Review for Stefan’s Brasserie, Westcliff
From diner Simon on 15/08/2007
This restaurant is tucked away down a side road in Westcliff, it is one of the few top class restaurants in this area, the food is first class, as are the staff and decor, you will not be disappointed eating here.

Review for Il Pescatore, Southend
From diner Tony Grossman on 12/08/2007
My wife visited this restaurant recently and really enjoyed the meal, but we considered it to be a little overpriced.
The night we went was extremely crowded, so the service was a bit slow!
The restaurant has been established for many years, so it's obviously a very popular place to eat!
