BURGLARS and car crooks have been warned they are living on borrowed time in Pitsea.
Operation Ernest has seen uniformed officers beefing up patrols, while undercover police have been on the streets attempting to snare crooks red-handed.
Det Chief Insp Liam Osborne said: "We are never complacent about crime and have mounted this operation to target people who are stealing cars and breaking into houses.
"Burglaries are some of the most serious crimes that affects members of the public, as well has having the inconvenience of a thief smashing the window of your car to get property that is left on display.
"The police have successfully achieved a significant crime reduction, but we won't stop there.
Is this a 'crackdown' like Blunkett used to announce every two weeks when he wanted to look tough? You know a paper only PR exercise and do nothing new? If not just how much extra resource will be allocated? Men, money vehicles etc? Details please.
It is of course total pants unless this 'tough on the crime, tough on the causes of crime' (sorry couldn't resist requoting that load of Nu Liar shoe menders) includes the wishy washy liberal judges, phoney baloney sentencing and the CPS (Can't Prosecute Successfully).
If the mainstream media are to be believed the only bold new tactic in Nu Liar Britain is to prosecute the victim (usually for racial ordure) and let the offender/s off scot free.
So far from worrying crims in any way I would suggest that Nu Liars Britain is a golden time for Crims. To quote another awful PM 'They've never had it so good'.
