Stars in their eyes - the staff in full costume

A NIGHT with the stars has raised more than £3,000 for charity.

Tesco Express staff from the store in Southchurch Road put on the event, dressing up and performing as celebrities.

There were performances from Britney Spears, Shirley Bassey, Elvis, Madonna, Geri Halliwell and The Monkees, as well as an auction Manager Lee Clark, 27, who organised the night, said: "We had a great night and everyone who came had a good time and was asking when the next one will be. I think we'll do one next year as it was so good.

"I was Britney Spears for the night dressed in school uniform and sang Baby One More Time. I didn't win, but came second behind Shaggy.

"We had a lot of support from people who bought tickets or donated money."

There was also an auction, with all the proceeds going to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

More 200 people attended the evening at Southend Rugby Club.
