Helping hand - MP John Baron hands a cheque to McDonalds franchisee Gen Isikgun, for the Ronald McDonald children's centre at Basildon Hospital
DOZENS of charities will receive a share of £33,000 raised by walkers.
Billericay Tory MP John Baron swapped Westminster for his walking boots to organise and take part in his annual fun walk.
The walk, at Billericay's Barleylands Farm, raised a
best-ever total of £33,000.
And this year, 59 local charities - including neighbourhood watch, Scouts, Gemini Kennels and the Little Havens children's hospice - received a share of the proceeds.
The cash was handed out at a presentation at the Rising Sun pub, at Sun Corner, Billericay.
Mr Baron said: "This was the best fun walk so far.

"It was a real team effort, and thanks to everyone who made it possible.
"The fun walk is about helping smaller charities and good causes in the nooks and crannies of our communities, who might not otherwise stage such an event."
Mr Baron has been organising the fun walk since 2002.
